The Jacob Cline bee balm has a spread and height of three to four feet. Once the plant dies back in fall, cut it off just above the soil surface. Snipping off dead flowers or finished flower stalks encourages repeat blooming. This will ensure it has plenty of room to grow and have good airflow around the plant, a key to avoiding problems with leaf diseases. Provide the Jacob Cline with plenty of space. Use an organic mulch around the plant and plan to water it regularly during dry weather so the soil stays consistently moist. The ideal soil is moderately fertile, well-drained and rich in organic matter. This bee balm prefers a site with full to partial shade. Use them at the back of a garden as a vertical accent.
